Weight Comparison — how heavy is it compared to…

How heavy is a blue whale in elephants? A plane in cars? Compare weights side by side and see how many of one thing equal another.

    How the weight comparison works

Each bar is proportional to weight, heaviest first, and the boxes underneath tell you how many of each lighter item it takes to match the heaviest. Vehicle weights are empty (curb) weights unless stated; aircraft and rockets say whether they are empty or fully loaded because the difference is large. Animal weights are typical adults, and dinosaur weights are published scientific estimates.

    Questions

How heavy is an elephant compared to a car?

An adult African elephant weighs about 6 tonnes (13,000 lb), roughly four midsize sedans. Add both to the tool to see it.

Where do the weights come from?

Typical published values: manufacturer specifications for vehicles and aircraft, official figures for landmarks, and typical adult weights for animals. Dinosaur weights are scientific estimates and vary between studies.

    What does log scale do?

When one item is thousands of times heavier than another, the small ones become invisible. Log scale keeps every bar visible while preserving the order; the exact numbers are always shown.

Can I compare my own weight?

Yes. Add a custom item in kg, g, tonnes, pounds, ounces or US tons.

    Is it free?

Yes, no account needed. The site is supported by ads.
