How to use the crossword & anagram solver
- Choose Crossword, Anagram, Contains or Wordle at the top.
- Type what you know: a pattern like c?o?s, a set of letters, or the green, yellow and grey letters from a Wordle guess.
- Read the matching words, grouped by length; click a word to copy it.
Four searches, one word list
Crossword matches a pattern letter by letter, so it answers "five letters, second letter O, ends in S". Anagram finds every word your letters can make, longest first, with Scrabble points. Starts / ends / contains is for rhymes, word games and the clue that says "ends in -ology". Wordle helper narrows the 12,000 five-letter words to the ones that fit your guesses so far and ranks the most informative next guess first.
A note for setters and solvers
Crossword answers are often names, places, abbreviations or phrases, which a dictionary list does not contain. If a pattern gives nothing, try the shorter words around it, or the "contains" search for a fragment; the crossing letters usually give it away.
Questions and answers
How do I search for a crossword answer?
Type the letters you have and a question mark for each one you don't, in order. For a five-letter word with C first and S last, type c???s. If you only know the length, set the length and leave the pattern blank to see every word of that length.
Which dictionary does it use?
A list of about 275,000 English words drawn from the open SCOWL word lists, including inflections (plurals, -ed, -ing) and both British and American spellings. It does not include most proper nouns or multi-word phrases, which is why a few crossword answers will not appear.
Does the anagram solver handle blank tiles?
Yes. Put a ? for each blank. Results are sorted longest first and show the Scrabble score for each word, so it works as a Scrabble and Words With Friends helper too.
How does the Wordle helper rank words?
It keeps only words that fit your green, yellow and grey letters, then puts first the words whose letters appear most often across the remaining candidates, which on average eliminates the most possibilities with your next guess.
Is it free and is anything uploaded?
Free, no account, and nothing is uploaded: the word list is downloaded to your browser once (a few hundred kilobytes per word length) and searched there.
Free to use, runs in your browser, nothing uploaded. Last updated 2026-10-07. Made by HandyToolkits; questions to [email protected].
